In Lewisham's best gym and running track this evening  were one or two  sweaty middle aged blokes, some serious club runners , juliette my  little one ripping it up on the track, a team gb hurdler stretching in the corner and most amazing of all Tracy with the three world champion gold medals she had  won this summer in the shot, javelin and discus at the transplant games in Argentina.  Coached all the way by  local throws coach Albert. Absolutely inspirational stuff

Met woman who won three golds in world transplant games in Argentina . Amazing ..coached to world beating by Albert the throws coach at ladywell arena.  Girl who's team gb sprinter/ hurdler in the house too, and juniors team of super fit athletes. Lovely

Then a pile of wannabe elite athletes wander in with coach and the place brightens right up. 

Someone was telling me the other day that alcoholics are told to keep themselves in a not too depressed state in certain categories to avoid wanting to have a a drink. In the same way a perfect life in the words of armistead mauphan is a great job , great relationship and cool appartment then the ideal place to be to  avoid hitting the bottle is a steering clear of too many of being lonely, hungry, sick, poor, depressed. All further down the hierarchy of needs from armistead mauphan. You spend your 20s aspiring to mauphan and 50s wondering just what the future holds. 

This week I found out that the person I report into had been shifted from disengaged ahha singer to overwrought running pal. I made a complaint into HR, not because I was completely terribly upset about but I just wanted my  low level discontent registered. To celebrate the clarity of the situation I went to the gym around lunch time.

She said she was tiny . Look at my shoes she said . They're tiny too. Just like me . I'm the smallest   , the most tiny in my year and my class and the year below. I didn't know whether this  tinyness is a problem for her, the begginjng of a problem or acknowledgment of her usp somehow.  To me she rocks, the free world in fact. Aged 8 missed out on an appearance to sing God save the queen on gmtv. As her mother put it ,  she was gutted , tears as well.. If only she'd joined the conventional choir  and not the 'ospel version, as she put it. Ashamed to say I found all this hilarious .
