 Some of the stuff that happened …

Stayed Candover wing for 36hrs pre op

Lots of medics came to say hi

Managed to get sleeping tablets for those two nights 

Collected 7.30am and walked to  surgery 

Was given epidural and then GA jab . Don’t remember that last thing . 

Woke and delivered to ICU at 7.30pm.  Only remember anethnatist  telling me what an easy patient I was 

Spent at least some  of that night chatting to Zoe the icu  nurse, quite lovely I thought . Reminded me a bit of …

ICU doctor complete arsehole. Young nurse annoying . Happy to leave there, tea time following day. 2/3 days less time than expected. 

Ward 

Four bed pod. Paul irritating , stoma bursting idiot . The other slot was miscellaneous older guy.  Don’t what what going on on other wards. My bed uncomfortable hot cold and sweaty . Hated it . Med staff intervention very annoying at times . Some of the staff ditto .glad I don’t work there . In any capacity . 

Basingstoke sunday

Nurse just came around to list the tubes going into me . Will be in ITU . 

Ab drains x5

She told me for the first week I will like I’ve been hit by a bus. But there after it quickly get better . They told me that with most people they remove a whole pile of organs. She gave me the list , it was long . With me it should be a bit of bowel and something else I can’t  remember. As mine hasn’t spread so far . I just wrote a paragraph saying goodbye to the kids that I sent to sandrine. Just in case . Signed the consent form  to slightly tall sardonic consultant 

Basingstoke - Saturday

 Was  very sad  leaving Starsky . It was like she knew as she followed me around all morning. Jules will do a great job looking after her . And has two weeks of home schooling  so will be able to spend loads of time with her . Got got the hospital. The cab driver asked me what I did at the Pork and apple stew. Was about to refuse it until they told me I would be eating again for a ‘few days ‘ . Have a private room. Which is a result as Aviva are paying me 100 quid a day to be here. I have a telly so can watch football etc.  Yesterday the surgeon phoned and told me that my latest CT scan was clear apart from an area near where the appendix was . Could be cancer , could be baked beans. It occurred to me earlier that these weeks might be a good time to reflect , sober up a bit . 

Today urine test , covid test, ecg , bloods. MRSA, chest X-ray Football on tv .Jules heading to mine to look after Starsky . Watching Jules on blink is a complete blast. She was ready a story to the cat just now. Also watching ex wife casing my joint quite interesting too 

Chest x ray tomorrow now.  Every one very polite . Apparently winding Up in ITU is not a certainTy , just depends on how op goes . And they keep stressing my op is lite version
